Elliot Feuerstein is an experienced commercial real estate executive who has overseen retail property development in Southern California in his role as an officer of Mira Mesa Shopping Center in San Diego, CA. Active in his local community, Elliot Feuerstein is a longtime supporter of the San Diego Public Library Foundation.

In addition to its adult offerings, the San Diego Public Library Foundation provides material support to a number of services for children and teenagers. One of the most significant programs it helps fund each year is the Summer Reading Program, which helps encourage continued reading among students between the months of June and August, when they are out of school. Especially among low income demographics, students tend to regress over the summer in terms of reading comprehension. The SDPL’s program helps reach more than 40,000 students in the hopes of preventing that regression.

The library is also home to a number of resources for students throughout the school year that are supported by the foundation. It has an Online Homework Help program that assists K-12 students by connecting them with tutors who can work with them individually on topics such as math, English, and science.
